Creating Assessments with Google Forms

Google Forms has been one of my favorite assessment tools as a classroom teacher.  Primarily, I use Google Forms for lesson practices, mastery quizzes, and skill assessments.  These are assessments where students will receive immediate feedback on their progress – which is perfect because many of these questions are very “Level 1”.  These types of questions are still good for students to do but should offer them immediate feedback.  It’s important to note that this is only one way that I assess students.  There are many other activities in our classroom that assess deeper levels of learning which require more specific grading on my part.

I truly believe Google Forms is such an amazing but often underutilized tools for classroom teachers.  So, I decided to create a training video that will walk you through the basics of Google Forms.  Also, if you are interested in becoming a Google Certified Educator, this video will be a great help to you!

In this training video, participants will learn how to:

  • Create a Google Form that contains a variety of question types, such as short answer, multiple choice, checkboxes, paragraph answers, etc.
  • Adjust the theme and style of the Google Form.
  • Set up the Google Form for automatic and manual grading.
  • Create a password to lock the Google Form.
  • View and analyze assessments results through Google Forms and Sheets.

Have you been using Google Forms for assessments in your classroom?  If so, tell us more about it in the comments below!  Also, feel free to ask any questions that you might need to be clarified on using Forms for assessments.

  1. Thanks for this Meagan! I’ve been using Google forms for quizzes but you taught me a few features that I hadn’t explored yet. I teach elementary and my students aren’t allowed to have access to their school email. I use the add-on Flubaroo to give them feedback on their quizzes but is there another way to give them feedback through Google other than their school email or using an add-on?

    1. Absolutely! The features in Google Forms are great. If you set up quizzes, you can do all the same things that you could do in Flubaroo. Just easier!
