Statistics & Probability Survey Project

My students just completed one of my FAVORITE project of the year – Statistics & Probability Survey Project!  In this project, students create a survey question and survey 50 students on campus.  They gather, organize and interpret their data into a final project.  The students love this project!

In this project, students will be able to:
– Create a survey question.
– Poll 50 students.
– Organize data into tables and graphs.
– Find the mean, median, mode, and range of their data.
– Find the probability of each event occurring.
– Explain their survey process and results.

In the zip file that you can download, you will find three copies of the Statistics & Probability Project:

– Rough Draft (Paper Copy)
– Final Draft (Paper Copy)
– Google Doc Copy

The first two are the copies that I have used in previous years of teaching and the Google Doc is the one that I have been using this year. My school site has gone 1:1 with Chromeboooks, so our Statistics Project became digital this year.

With the paper copies, I gave my students the rough draft copy to gather their information and organize their project. They were given the final draft near the end of the project, in which they pretty much just copied the information over. With the digital copy, I created this as a Google Doc and shared it with my students. The students completed their entire project on the Google Classroom and I taught them how to input graphs into the project through Google Sheets.
